Teacher and Family Councils

  • The LLN Teacher Council is comprised of two teacher representatives from each of the LLN schools. Teachers representatives are elected by their peers.
  • School leaders will annually recommend one-to-two family representatives from each of the LLN schools to serve on the Council.

Staff

The LLN’s lean administrative team provides central administrative services for schools, helping to realize economies of scale and reduced overhead costs while allowing school leaders to focus on meeting the needs of their students and families.

Jessica Roberts, Executive Director

As the founding Executive Director, Jessica is charged with creating, monitoring and improving network-wide systems that will ensure the success of the individual schools and the overall Zone structure. Jessica will support the LLN’s strategic growth and other initiatives, oversee sound budget process and support each school’s value-driven professional culture and, in partnership with each school principal, the achievement of the school’s academic goals.

Jessica graduated from Texas A&M University in 2004 with a BBA in Finance. In 2005 Jessica decided corporate finance life was not for her and became a certified teacher in order to pursue her passion for educational equity while deeply investing in her community and the lives of kids. Jessica taught 7th and 8th grade math for the Houston and Spring Branch Independent School Districts in Houston, Texas for five years. While teaching, Jessica continued her education at the University of Houston, graduating with her MBA in 2010. After graduation, Jessica went on to become the Director of Business Operations and ultimately the Vice President of Finance and Administration for the University of Houston Alumni Association. Continually pursuing her passion for education, in 2012, Jessica left the University of Houston and took a new role as the Controller of YES Prep Public Schools, a large open enrollment charter school organization in Houston. At YES Prep Jessica found her niche in business operations for education, eventually becoming the Managing Director of Finance and Accounting and serving in the Interim CFO role. Jessica left YES Prep in 2016 to join the Luminary Learning Network.

Originally from Houston Jessica is married to a native Coloradan, Jason (Go Buffs!), and has two daughters, Ellery and Emma. In her spare time Jessica loves to spend time with family, at Crossfit, skiing, eating good food and exploring the Rocky Mountains.
